Veeam Cloud Connect Replication

Veeam Cloud Connect offers a built-in, affordable and secure cloud-based Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) through a service provider of your choice. You no longer need to maintain your own secondary site to have reliable, image-based, VMware VM replicas off site. With no complex configurations, Veeam Cloud Connect allows you to failover an entire site or selected VMs from anywhere with just a few clicks. Traffic encryption securely protects all replicated data, both in-flight and on the service-provider side.

Assisted failover

Assisted failover featured by Veeam helps avoid data loss and achieve RPOs of <15 minutes for ALL applications and data. If your production VMware VM fails, you can immediately failover to its ready-to-use replica and continue normal operations running on a DR site until the issue is resolved. Veeam Backup & Replication maintains a configurable number of restore points for each VM replica. For example, if your latest replica point is corrupted due to a software malfunction, you can roll back to a previous valid restore point.

Planned failover

Planned failover allows you to run your site migration or data-center maintenance smoothly with minimum impact on operations. Planned failover shuts down the source VMware VM, replicates any changes to the target VM and starts the VM — all with no data loss and little downtime. Perform your software upgrades and planned maintenance easily!

Failover plans

Failover plans provide you with built-in orchestration to enable easy, 1-click site failover. To maintain Availability of interdependent applications, you can create a failover plan in advance for a group of replicated VMware VMs arranged in the right order and then initiate it when needed in just one click. Add VMs from replicas, arrange them in a boot order and set a delay for each VM so they don’t start before a previous one starts up.

Real failback

Restore your normal operations after performing a failover in a few minutes by failing back to the original VMware VM. During a failback operation, changes in replicas are automatically synchronized with the original VM, eliminating data loss. You can choose either to fail back to the production VM, to a new location or to simply make the replica VM your new production VM.

SureReplica technology helps you automatically test every restore point in every VMware VM replica for recoverability. This technology validates data for consistency, checks replica configuration accuracy and tests it for reliability inside an isolated virtual lab. Currently, SureReplica is available for VMware replication only.

Fast off-site replication

Veeam’s Built-in WAN Acceleration for replication speeds up vSphere replication over the WAN or slow connections up to 50x, while reducing bandwidth consumption 20x compared to copying raw data. Featuring replication from a backup and compressed replica traffic, Veeam Backup & Replication helps you improve replication performance and optimize replication traffic transmission.

Replication from backups

Veeam Backup & Replication supports replication from your existing backups. By utilizing VM backups as a source for replication, you can remove any impact on your production environment. The entire process is fully automated and no specific configurations or job settings are required. Replication from VM backups saves significant time and reduces the read I/O on the running production VMware VM.
