Atlassian Softwares and Solutions

If you work in the field of project management or are a programmer, you have probably heard the name Atlassian a lot. A company that has captured a huge part of the programming tools market. In 2002, Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, while studying in Sydney, Australia, founded Atlassian. At first glance, you may feel that Atlassian is a Persian name, but you are very wrong! This name is an adaptation of the name of one of the Greek myths called Titan Atlas!

Atlassian Softwares and Solutions

In the first year, the company presented the flagship of its product portfolio in the field of project management called Jira. 2 years later, in 2004, Atlasian published its knowledge management software called Confluence.

The growing financial trend of the company prompted the founders to register their parent company in London in 2014 in order to enter the European market more seriously, although the main office of the company still remained in Sydney. In the following years, this growing trend continued and Atlasian offices were expanded in Amsterdam, New York, San Francisco, California, Philippines, Yokohama, Japan, Bangalore, India, and most recently, Ankara, Turkey.

Today, Atlasian serves more than 130,000 small and large software teams with about 6,000 employees, which means millions of active users.

In recent years, the company has tried to shift its focus from On-Premises and improve cloud versions of its products. This change of approach continued until 2024 was announced as the end of the server version of Atlassian products. Also, the company’s new products such as Opsgenie are offered only on the cloud platform.

Atlassian Jira

The Jira tool provided by Atlassian is a project management tool with bug tracking for software projects and issue tracking. This tool is usually used to track bugs and issues related to software projects and mobile applications. The main reason for using it is the perfect features of this tool’s dashboard to manage these things optimally.

Also, in a more advanced state, this tool is able to assume the role of a complete and perfect project management tool in software teams. In addition, by using a wide set of plugins provided in the Atlassian market or by developing the plugin through the provided interface, this tool can be completely customized depending on the needs of the target teams.

The Jira tool is developed using the Java language, which makes it possible to host its web server on all common operating systems. In addition, by using Jira’s communication facilities (such as REST, SOAP and XML-RPC), it is possible to connect this tool with other tools used in the organization, such as chat software, management of code repositories, etc.

Atlassian Opsgenie

Opsgenie is a relatively new Atlassian product. Proactively help operations teams (Ops) manage incidents. This solution encourages collaboration between all other teams and automated feature-based operations. Here you will learn what Opsgenie is for, what tangible benefits you get from it, and some tips on how to acquire it.

According to Atlassian, when a service suffers an accident that takes it offline, it can affect thousands of people and cost the company up to $ 700 billion annually. This is based on a study conducted by IHS Markit in North America. Preventing and quickly resolving such incidents is a challenge facing businesses today, and Opsgenie solves it effectively.

Opsgenie functionality can be divided into two main areas. The first is focused on incident management, allowing the planning of different scenarios and post-incident analysis. The second area oversees the coordination of communication and collaboration between the team involved in resolving the incident and the operations team. This is done through the Incident Command Center (ICC), an intelligent system of centralization and control of notifications.
